Brief Introduction
I. Main Content
Population statistics in this chapter include classified data for permanent population and registered population in Beijing in previous years; statistics of population in Beijing from six national population censuses since the founding of the People¡¯s Republic of China; statistics from National Sample Survey on Population Changes after 1990.
Employment statistics in this chapter include information on employed persons in three industries in Beijing; employees and average wages in business entities; classified statistics for the number and wage of fully employed staff and workers in urban entities; registered unemployment in urban areas.
II. Source of Statistics
In the population section of this chapter, statistics on ¡°registered population¡± are from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Public Security; statistics on ¡°land area¡± are from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources; family planning statistics are from Beijing Municipal Commission of Health and Family Planning; other statistics are from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
In the employment section in this chapter, urban registered unemployment statistics are from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security; other statistics are from Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics.
III. Changes in Relevant Statistical Standards
(I) Classification of Sectors. According to relevant provisions of the National Bureau of Statistics, the Standard for Classification of National Economic Sectors (GB/T 4754-2011) was implemented in 2012.
(II) Classification of Three Industries. According to the Regulations on the Classification of the Three Industries (G.T.Z. [2012] No. 108) issued by National Bureau of Statistics, the scope of three industries was changed. The primary industry refers to agriculture, forestry, animal production and hunting, fishing (excluding service for agriculture, forestry, animal production and hunting, fishing); the secondary industry refers to mining and quarrying (excluding mining support activities), manufacturing (excluding metal products, machinery and equipment repair), production and distribution of electricity, heating power, gas and water, and construction; the tertiary industry refers to sectors other than the primary and secondary industries. The Regulations on the Classification of the Three Industries (G.T.Z. [2012] No. 108) issued by National Bureau of Statistics came into effect in 2012.
(III) Urban-Rural Statistical Definition
In July 2008, the State Council approved the Regulations on Urban-Rural Statistical Definition (G.H. [2008] No. 60 and No. 14 Decree of National Bureau of Statistics) jointly developed by the National Bureau of Statistics, Ministry of Civil Affairs, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Land and Resources and Ministry of Agriculture. In the population section, new definition applies for the figures of ¡°urban population¡± and ¡°rural population¡±.
