Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators

 

Health

 

Healthcare Institutions refer to institutions granted with License for Medical Institution by the health administration authority, or granted with certificate of corporate unit by the civil affair, administration for industry and commerce, management authority of institutional organization, and providing medical service and healthcare, disease control, health supervision service or carrying out medical research and education, and so on.

Medical Technical Personnel refer to all fixed employees and of contract-based employees, professional personnel in health technology, who receive pays from health institutions, excluding personnel engaged in management. 

Certified Doctors and Registered Nurses refer to personnel who have received a physician practicing certificate and certified nurse certificate, excluding physicians and nurses engaged in management.

Mortality (Cause-specific Death Rate) means the proportion of persons dead due to certain cause (such as disease) in the permanent population.

Infant Mortality means the rate of dead infants under 1 year old to 1,000 live infants in an area in a year. Infant death rate measures the development of economy, culture, citizen health and health care in a country or region. It is also an important component of study on average life expectancy of population.

Mortality of Children under 5 means the rate of dead children under 5 years old to 1,000 live infants in an area in a year. This is an important indicator now internationally recognized to reflect the survival status of children. 

Pregnant and Lying-in Women Mortality refers to the rate of dead pregnant and lying-in women to 100,000 live pregnant and lying-in women in an area in a year. This is an important indicator to evaluate the social development status in an area. The figure of this indicator is directly related to the social and economic status, social environment and health care service for pregnant and lying-in women.

 

Sports

 

Sports Venues refer to sports building facilities for public welfare or operating purpose, specially used for sports training, games and fitness activities, and with certain investment.

Instruction Station of Morning and Evening Exercise refer to public sports and fitness sites located in sports gyms and stadiums, parks, streets, street parks and other public sites in a city, where the citizens in the city participate in voluntarily fitness activities in the morning or evening.

Number of Teenager Sports Clubs means the number of new-type social sports organizations for teenagers in the nature of socialistic public welfare, which are established by the builder with its own resources such as sports gyms and stadiums and human resource.

Social Sports Instructors refer to working personnel who carry out skill teaching, exercise instruction, organization and management in mass sports activities other than athletic sports, school sports and army sports.

Special Ball Game Venue and Facilities are special venues for ball activities built to meet the fitness need of different population, especially teenagers, consisting of three types, i.e. basketball squares, multi-purpose cage-shaped courts, and table tennis corridors.

Community Fitness Clubs refer to ¡°mass sports organizations in the nature of public welfare, which are formed by residents in urban communities voluntarily according to their common purpose and interest, based on specific sports venue facilities in the jurisdiction, for frequent sports activities, and under the jurisdiction of sub-district administrative office or community neighborhood committee.¡±

Number of Graded Athletes means the number of athletes formally granted with the title of graded athlete upon examination. Grades of athletes include international master sportsman, national maser sportsman, grade-I athlete, grade-II athlete, grade-III athlete and juvenile athlete.

Number of Graded Referees means the number of referees formally granted with the title of graded referees upon examination. Grades of referees include international referee, national referee, grade-I referee, grade-II referee and grade-III referee.

Medals Won by Athletes mean the number of gold, silver and copper medals won by athletes of Beijing in world games, Asian games and national games.
